As the world is celebrating Christmas and New Year, factional Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State, Hon. Sikirullahi Ogundele has greeted the people of the state and wished them happy celebrations.
In a Christmas/New Year message signed by the Publicity Secretary of the PDP in Ogun State, Alhaji Malik Ibitoye, Ogundele urged the people of the state to see this period as transition for the state and the country.
Ogundele also used the occasion to thank the National Chairman of the PDP, Prince Uche Secondus and the Governorship candidate of the party in the state recognized by the leadership of the party, Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu for their steadfastness and commitment.
According to him, these two people are the heroes of 2018 in the party and they deserve all the supports in their efforts to take the state and Nigeria out of the woods.
“May I wish our people a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year in advance. There is no doubt that this is the most challenging period in Nigeria.
“We have never had it so bad as we are having under the APC-led governments both at the state and at the federal levels.
“Our party, the PDP will come to the rescue in 2019 to make life better for the people of Ogun State and for Nigerians in general from 2019. The signs are there, especially at this Christmas period, which happens to be the worst in the history of Nigeria,” Ogundele said in the statement.
Alhaji Malik added that Ogundele was worried that Nigerians were experiencing a bleak Christmas and that the people of the state and the country were suffering amidst plenty, adding that they deserve better than they were getting at the moment.
Ogundele was quoted to have urged the people of Ogun State to vote for the PDP in Ogun State in 2019 so that the state “could be saved from maladministration and bad governance of the APC-led government in the state.”
He added that there would be light at the end of the tunnel for the people of Ogun State and for Nigerians in general if only they could embrace the PDP, which he said is full of ideas that could make life better for the people of the state and the country in general.
“Our party has the best agenda for the people. We have all the requisite ability and our programmes are people-oriented such that the economy of the state and the country would be restored.
“This Christmas and New Year celebrations call for a sober reflection and we all need to go back to the drawing board to see where we have gone wrong and correct our mistakes.
“We have all tried the APC from 2015 and we could see that they are full of lies and deceit. So why should we continue to support such a party both at the state and at the federal level.
“I would say that enough is enough and we need to take our destiny in our hands so that things would get better for us from 2019 in Ogun State and in Nigeria generally” the statement read.
The party chairman assured the people of the state that the issues surrounding the Governorship candidature in the state would soon be resolved by a court of competent jurisdiction in favour of Hon. Ladi Adebutu, and urged the people of the state to remain calm until this is done.
