
Oba Ogunleye consoling Shonekan’s widow
Oba Ogunleye has described the late former Head of Nigeria’s Interim Goovernment, Chief Earnest Adeboye Sonekan as a quintessential business and political leader in Nigeria and the Commonwealth nations, whose life and times must be preserved for the unborn generations. Oba Ogunleye remarked that as a small boy in school, he was tutored about the life and times of Royal Niger Company and the likes of Toubman Goldie and Lord Fredrick Lugard. Earnest Shonekan who was saddled with development of the continental business conglomerate known as the United African Compnay (UAC) and later Head of Nigerian government, must remain a reference point in the history of the nation. In a condolence message on the passing on of the elder statesman and Babasale of Egbaland, Oba Ogunleye extolled the high qualities of Chief Sonekan,adding, “he had paid his dues to the nation.
