Dr. Olajide noted that the global tourism group specifically honors individuals who mirror Nehemiah’s leadership attributes. He praised Professor Abraham for consistently leveraging his international academic and cultural networks to empower youth, strengthen local institutions, and fight apathy—all while remaining deeply connected to his roots despite geographical distances.
“As industry leaders, we recognize that physical destinations only thrive when anchored by visionary leadership,” Dr. Olajide stressed. “One of our core objectives in instituting this award is to honor trailblazers like Professor Abraham, who use their intellect and influence to rebuild communities and uplift their homelands from afar.”
In his acceptance speech, Professor Abraham dedicated the Nehemiah Visionary Leadership Award to the resilient spirit of the global diaspora.
He pointed out that while living overseas can easily breed detachment, “this award validates the burning desire many of us share to ensure that the structural walls of our homelands never remain in ruins.”
In an emotionally charged conclusion, the NACLFON National Coordinator remarked: “To be compared to the biblical Nehemiah is both a profound honor and a humbling responsibility. This award is an invitation to do even more—to mentor more youths, and to ensure our rich heritage remains a shining beacon for global tourism and education.”
