The Authorities of the Nasarawa State University on Friday warned her fresh student’s intake that the institution is absolutely intolerant to cultism, or acts of lawlessness within the academic community.

Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof Sa’adatu Hassan Liman sent this while admitting 8,604 new students simultaneously at her three campuses in Gudu, Lafia at the 22nd Matriculation Ceremony at Matriculation Centre in Keffi.

The University warned the Students to channel none academic grievances through the Dean of Students Affair and the academic disputes passed through the Deans of Faculties via their Head of Departments.

The students were told that the Students Representative Council (SRC) will be inaugurated soon and they should support their own people to be on the Council.

The University Registrar, Dr. Bala Ahmed in administering oaths on the students Faculty by Faculty told the students that they are “expected to develop yourselves in character, discipline and academic knowledge”.

One of told the students the seven oaths that the students have to sign to is paragraph 111 which inter alia states that the students “shall not either alone or in conjunction with other students, engage in any act of violence, or other improper conduct on in acts calculated to damage the image and property of the university or the community”.

The University boasted in a fruitful 2024/25 academic session through academic and non-academic pursuits of the students, the entire work force and the College of academic Tutors.

The Fresh students are expected to be back at the Convocation Arena on the 5th of March to conclude their orientation procedures which is a culture in academic parlance worldwide.

The adjacent Senate Building witnessed a flurry of activities as students, parents and their guests overtook many grounds for entertainment with snapping of historic photographs.

Some commercial people hawked water, soft drinks and snacks despite the coincidence of both Lent and Ramadan fasting while Photographers too made brisk business selling their products.

Patmos Media Line was not aware of reports of any missing persons, lost and found items or misdemeanor despite the mammoth crowd at the Convocation Arena though several guests who came stood outside as security tried to prevent overcrowding at the Arena.
