Unknown gunmen have reportedly abducted no fewer than eight students of the Engineering Campus of Nasarawa State University, Keffi in Gudi, sparking panic and fear among students and residents of the area.
The incident, which occurred in the early hours of Thursday, was said to have taken place at about 1:00 a.m. when the armed attackers allegedly stormed off-campus student hostels located around the university environment.
Eyewitness accounts revealed that the gunmen forcefully entered several student accommodations and whisked away the victims to an unknown destination. The attack reportedly lasted for several minutes, leaving students traumatized and the entire community in fear.

A source who spoke anonymously disclosed that many students remained awake throughout the night following the attack, expressing frustration over what they described as the absence of immediate security intervention during the incident.
“As the shooting and shouting were going on, students were crying and hiding in fear. There was no visible security response while the operation lasted,” the source said.
As of the time of filing this report, security presence around the campus was said to be minimal despite growing concerns among students who are currently sitting for their examinations.
The development has heightened tension within the university community, with students and residents calling on security agencies and the Nasarawa State Government to urgently intensify efforts toward rescuing the abducted students and improving security around the campus and surrounding communities.
Authorities of the university and security agencies are yet to officially comment on the incident.
