Segun Awolowos demise, A Great Loss says Amosun

Former Governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has expressed shock over the death of Mr. Olusegun Awolowo, grandson of the late Sage and Premier of the old Western Region, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, describing it as a great loss to the Awolowo family, Ogun State and Nigeria.
This is contained in a condolence message signed by Lanre Akinwale,his media aide.
Segun Awolowo it will be recalled passed away on Thursday, 20 November 2025, at the age of 62.

Senator Amosun described his life as an embodiment of the enduring heritage of devotion to public service, integrity, and intellect, for which the Awolowo family is renowned.

The former Governor noted that during his leadership at the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC), Nigeria witnessed significant improvements in trade promotion and the expansion of intra-African business opportunities. These achievements culminated in his election as President of the National Trade Promotion Organisations from ECOWAS member states.

“My thoughts and prayers are with his wife, children, aged mother and the entire Awolowo family at this difficult time,” Amosun said.

Senator Amosun prayed that God will grant him eternal rest and give his family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
