…Eyes African Record of Burundi Beating Djibouti 18-0 in Same Age Group.
Nigerian Flamingos U17 Girls on Thursday night at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre, Prmpram, Ghana whipped their Nigeriene counterpart, 9-0 in the first outing of the WAFU Zone B U17 Competition.
That score line was the highest goal scored in any African U17 Girls category. Burundi had beaten Djibouti 18-0 in the 3rd qualifying round 1st leg of the CAF U17 world cup qualifier at Abebe Bikila Stadium Addis Ababa and Morocco had beaten the same Niger Republic 11-0 on 5th February 2024 in the 2nd round of the same world cup qualifier at Berkene, Morocco.
Before the match in Ghana on Thursday night, Nigerian Flamingoes had 6-0 win thrice, first was beating Central African Republic on each match of the two legged 2nd round qualifier and then slicing neighbors Burkina Faso also 6-0 at the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja in the 3rd round on the 18th of May 2024.
It should be recalled that for the world cup qualifiers, Nigeria’s Chidi Harmony was the highest scorer with 12 goals followed by three players that scored 8 goals each.
Ramota Kareem, Shakirat Moshood and Peace Effiong scored three goals each towards the world cup qualifiers.
On Thursday night in Ghana, Shakirat Moshood was ruthless scoring four solid goals against Niger Republic in the 17th minute from 35 yards; 23rd minute from Aishat Animashaun assist; 45th minute before the half time and then on resumption of the 2nd half in a solo effort.
Janet Akekoromowei contribute a hat-trick (three goals) scoring in the 33rd minute; scoring from a fantastic header in the 4nd minute and just a minute after slipped beyond the defence line of Niger Republic to score her 3rd goal and Nigeria’s 6th goal.
Nigeria so dominated the match that by half time it was Nigeria 7 Niger Republic 0 and some fans started snoring though dramatically.
Aishat Animashaun had opened the scoring sheet in the 5th minute from a Mary Mamudu connect and Peace Effiong closed the scoring sheet with an inter ballistic missile from 35 yards in the 79th minute to make it Nigeria 9 Niger Republic 0.
Shakirat Moshood the four goals heroine was voted Most Valuable Player of the Match.

Nigeria to battle Ghana in WAFU B U-20 final

Nigeria’s rival, Black Maidens of Ghana who everyone is touting will face Nigeria in the WAFU Zone B final had thrashed girls from Republic of Benin 4-1.
Christiana Ashiaku scored a hat –trick in that match in the 17th, 44th and 45th minutes and was voted the Most Valuable Player of the Match.
