…says,state Governors should heed the call to invest in agriculture

An appeal has gone to all Nigerians to Invest in the country and its future for sustainable growth and Development.
This call was made in Lagos in Thursday by Special Adviser to the President on Media and Strategy,Mr Tunde Rahman while giving his remark at an award ceremony tagged,”Global Intergrity International Award for Democracy,Good Governance and Economic Development organised by Nigeria Human Rights Community,NHRC.
Rahman who received the Distinguished Award for Courage and Resilience in Democratic Struggle conferred on President Bola Tinubu, said investing in the future of the country will enable the efforts being made by the Federal government to yield positive result.
He reiterated determination of the President to make ordinary Nigerians fwel the impact of Good governance.
He disclosed that part of the gains of efforts to reset the Economy is the growth of 2.98,%in the first quarter of the year,higher than what was recorded in the same period last year as declared by National Bureau of Stastistics,NBS .
Rahman also disclosed that the nations electricity generation has inceeases to 5003.45MW on May this year adding that the future is expected to hit 6000MW by the end of June this year .
Still on electricity generation and supply he recalled that the Federal government hanas already activated electricity value chain by devolution of regulatory Powers to three state’s namely Enugu,Ekiti and Ondo state to set up their electricity markets.

He cited the signning of an accelerated electricity performance agreement between President Tinubu and Germany Chancellor, Olaf Scholz as one of the Steps aimed at expediting the implememtation of PPI to Improved electricity supply in Nigeria.
Rahman recalled the approval by the President to defray legacy debts owed gas companies to allow efficient gas supply for the Sector and payment mechanism to address generation companies debts.

On agriculture, he reiterated the call on the state Governors and Nigerians by the President to take agriculture seriously in order to Improved Food supply in the country.
Speaking further,Rahman said the Federal Ministry of agriculture has invested an estimated N309billion in dry season farming involving 118,651 hectares of land in 15 state’s of the country With Jigawa state alone getting 40,000 hectares.
Other recipients of the awards are,Nobel Laureate,Professor Wole Soyinka-Stainless Steel Award; Chief Ayo Opadokun,who got an Award for Excellence in Courage and Honourable Wale Osunwho got an Award for Excellence in Peoples Liberation.
