The Lagos State government has announced that the Red Line Rail project will be commissioned in Thursday February 29 by President Bola Tinubu.

The state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, disclosed this on Wednesday, February 14, at the ‘Lagos Market Trader Money’ for 15,000 beneficiaries.

The Red Line project, which will link Oyingbo to Agbado, is expected to run on the federal government’s Lagos-Ibadan rail line.

The rail project is being undertaken by the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA), an agency under the Ministry of Transportation.

The Lagos light rail network was flagged off by the Bola Tinubu administration in 2003.

The new rail line will provide a fast and efficient way for commuters to travel between different parts of the city. It is also expected to help reduce traffic congestion and pollution.

It was gathered that when the project becomes operational, it will transport more than 500,000 passengers daily, stretching over a distance of 27 Kilometres from Agbado to Oyingbo, with eight stations at Agbado, Iju, Agege, Ikeja, Oshodi, Mushin, Yaba, and terminates at Oyingbo.
