G60:Afenifere declares support of Bill to return Nigeria to Parliamentary System-Omololu

Says group is the number one advocate

National Organising Secretary of Afenifere, Abagun Kole Omololu has commended the efforts of the Group of 60 house of Representatives members pushing for a return to Parliamentary system of government.

In an Interview with Newdawnngr.com, he said that as the number one advocate of Parliamentary System in the country,the group is in full support of the initiative .

Said he,” We have never hidden that fact. It suits our pocket. It will cut down corruption in our electoral System.

According to him,returning the country to Parliamentary system will reduce Money politics now prevalebt in the country adding “Money politics will be a thing of the past.”

He said that under a Parliamentary system,”Prospective Parliamentary candidate will concentrate on their constitutency. Party supremacy will be the order of the day.”

Omololu contended further that ,”Moneybags with empty head will be shut out of the political system and . Intellectual acume will be on display. The best brains will represent us.”

It will be recalled that on Tuesday February 14, a group of sixty legislators in the National Assembly led by Honourable Abdulasamaad Dasuki addressed a Press conference in the Bill seeking for return of the country to Parliamentary system of government.

According to Dasuki,the intention is to cut down the cost of governance and make the government closer to the people.

He said that as of today,the Presidential system of government has become too expensive to run and Makes the President too powerful like a modern day military dictator.
