A faction of the All Progressive Congress,APC in Osun has accused Commissioner of Police, Wale Olokode of compromise in the series of attacks against its members by the Governor Gboyega Oyetola led faction of the party.
Addressing a press conference in Osogbo on Friday, Raski Salinsile, who is the chairman of the faction loyal to Minister of Interior Rauf Aregbesola, said if not compromised, the Police boss would have acted decisively against those who had vowed to unleash mayhem and attack party members.
Salinsile said in spite of open the evidences provided and litany of attacks in Osogbo and Ife last year, Ikirun and Osogbo on Tuesday and Thursday, the Commissioner of Police and his command have looked the other way.
Gunmen attacked the Oranmiyan House, the campaign office of the former Governor in Osogbo on Thursday attempting to set it ablaze .
Salinsile said at the press conference, “We had intelligence reports of the Gboyega Oyetola-led IleriOluwa faction’s plan to assassinate and maim us, and we had promptly passed the information to the Commissioner of Police in particular and all other security agencies. “But nothing was done about it till now. When the Chairman of SUBEB, Ajibola Famurewa publicly unveiled this atrocious plan at an event in their campaign office some days back, we wrote the Commissioner of Police, Wale Olokode, and attached the compact disc CD containing his vulgar and criminal statements. Other security agencies were copied too. Nothing was done to investigate the allegations. From our findings, the letters were dropped off as usual.”
The factional chairman said perpetrators of attacks on its members soon commenced to carry out execution of what he called “their evil plans to letter as they increased the tempo of attacks on us. “
He said, “We are of the firm belief that the refusal to act on our petitions on the impending attacks by the police and other security agencies emboldened the criminally minded associates of Governor Oyetola to become vicious on their attacks on us. As the security were not scrutinizing our reports not to talk of investigating it, so were they looking the other way whenever we are attacked. “
Salinsile said the worst is that members are punished by the Commissioner of Police, Wale Olokode led police whenever such attacks happen.
He added, “This evil occurrence of punishing us for offence committed against us by the police has been the order of the day. As we speak, we are having five of our members, including a 68-year-old man, in Ilesa Correctional Centre. If the police engaged a quarter of the speed by which they carry out atrocities against us in carrying out their job dispassionately, we are not likely to get to this level. But it is clear and certain that the Commissioner of Police has sold the police’s souls to the Oyetola government and will carry out its bidding so promptly. This reminds one of Pa Ogunde’s sound track “won a gbe ebi fun alare/won a gbe are fun elebi” which is the simple interpretation of what the Commissioner of Police, Wale Olokode led police is doing in the present. CP Wale Olokode and his men are greatly helping the Oyetola gang to maltreat, humiliate and de-humanise us. Scenarios like this has happened before and we are aware that the end is always disastrous for the perpetrators of evils like what we are witnessing. We are consoled that not much will be different in the present case.”
