Lagos will now host the maiden edition of BATAM National Conference (BATNACON 2021), earlier scheduled to hold in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital on the 28th and 29th, October, 2021.
Please, note that the dates of the events have not changed. It is only the venue that has changed.
The decision to change the venue was reached during BATNACON meeting held at the National Secretariat in Lagos on Saturday, 21st August, 2021.
According to BATAM’s President, Dr. Ibikunle Solana, the decision was due to the major reasons stated below:
1). The members of the National Organising Committee from the host branch (Oyo State branch ) have not demonstrated convincing commitment to this very significant project which is the first in the series. Yet, the programme requires 100 percent commitnent and determination from members of the branch where it will hold.
2). Moreover, majority of those nominated as Patrons, Patronesses and Special Advisers are in Lagos and Ogun States’ axis.
3). There is no doubt that the programme will be easier to organise in Lagos with the calibre of very committed and determined members of the Organising Committee who are on ground in Lagos and the neighbouring Ogun state; with the strong support of few other equally committed and determined members of the Organising Committee in other branches.
To further demonstrate the Organising Committee’s resolve to succeed in its assignment, by successfully achieving the set objectives, the Chairman, Dr. Adebayo Komolafe, an Associate Professor at the University of Ibadan, subsequently announced the dissolution of some inactive Sub-Committees out of the five Sub-Committees earlier set up..
These include
1). Investiture/ Themes Committee headed by Princess Folashade Abass
2). Security/ Logistics Committee headed by Mr. Akintola Abayomi Davies.
According to the President, all members of the dissolved Sub-Committees are still members of the general Organising Committee, except any of them proves otherwise.
A more comprehensive report and further information regarding BATNACON 2021 will be given by the Organising Committee Chairman and Secretary as the programmes draw near.
In God we trust. And to God alone be the glory.

Dr. Ibikunle Solana.
