The hosts dominated possession from inception, but had to wait until the 33rd minute before Nnoshiri Samuel poked-in the all important goal.
Nnoshiri scored with a chip from inside the box to beat Goalkeeper John Lawrence after meeting a loose ball cleared off the foot of Atule Joseph by Wolves defender.
Wolves were however, lucky not to concede goals early-on as Katsina United blasted the woodwork thrice in seprate clear cut chances.
Atule Joseph had two efforts blasted on the post. The first was a counter attack, where he dribbled the last man before shooting and attempted his other effort six minutes later off an assist by Samuel Kalu.
Samuel Nnoshiri almost doubled their lead with five minutes before the break, his strike was quite done in a similar fashion to the goal he scored, but unlucky to hit the woodwork.
Second Half
The second period produced a balanced game as Warri Wolves stepped out with much energy to counter the strength of their host. Though their playing pattern relied more on long thrust.
However, their efforts only produced two chances when Obiafudo Moses fired left footed from way out to force Goalkeeper Yusuf Mohammed to a save.While Efe Yarhere saw his tricky chip saved by Yusuf in a goal bound move.
Nnoshiri Samuel was outstanding with the most accurate passes, he also made a good attempt saved by John Lawrence on 54 minutes after combining with Rasheed Ahmed.
The win is a lifeline for Katsina United, leaping to 15th position with 25 points from 24 rounds of games.
Warri Wolves are rooted on 17th on 24 points with same number of matches played.
Katsina United will next host Nasarawa United, while Wolves play Sunshine Stars at home on Sunday 6th June 2021.
