Idris Abubakar stunner rescues point for Adamawa against Wolves

Adamawa United’s poor run of form continued as they again failed to grab maximum points since MatchDay 14 home win against Dakkada FC of Uyo.
This time, playing home to Warri Wolves on MatchDay 22, Adamawa came from behind thrice to rescue a point in the fixture played at Pantami Stadium, Gombe, the adopted home of the Yola based club.
The visitors settled into the game the earliest and their early dominance yielded a goal as they took the lead after two minutes through a beautiful point-blank finishing by Otu Stanley following a fine delivery from Eregare Steven from the right flank.
However Wolves lead lasted only for five minutes as Adamawa United’s new signing, Annayo Ogbonna equalized from close range after captain Idris Abubakar’s  shot was blocked onto the part of Ogbonna.
Adamawa United’s debuting goalkeeper,  Abdullahi Abdulwahab made a huge gaffe when he failed to control a back pass which Williams Sunday latched on to fire the lose ball into the net three minutes to the half hour mark.
A poor goalkeeping from the visiting goalkeeper off a header from Idris Abubakar gifted Annayo Ogbonna a chance to complete a brace. He made no mistake from close range to level for his side for the second time in 32 minutes.
Just like the first half, Wolves took the lead for the third time early after the restart following a fine run by Williams Sunday down the right flank before sending a lofted effort across goal to an already well-positioned Efe Yarhere. The former Heartland forward nodded beautifully into a tight angle for the visitors to take the lead for the third time.
Coach Justine Madugu of the host made sure the new goalie paid for his gaffe as he replaced him with Victor Philemon alongside two others, Isa Garba and Isaac Ali who made way for Jamilu Danjuma and Felix Kenan respectively in 57 minutes.
Few minutes after his well-taken free-kick was parried away by Wolves goalkeeper, John Lawrence, the Adamawa United captain Idris Abubakar scored a goal of the season contender with a sumptuous strike from outside the box for the host to equalize for the third time.
John Lawrence however refused being beaten for the fourth time, diving to his right to make a brilliant save and ensure the points were shared.
Wolves return to Warri against visiting Lobi Stars, while Adamawa will entertain another struggling side, Katsina United for another home fixture.
