Nigerians from all walks of life have been commending and praising the exemplary character displayed by a trycle operator aka Keke Marwa, John for returning a purse containing money, ATM cards and other valuable items forgotten in his trycycle last week Thursday in Lagos. He went the extra mile by contacting the wife of the owner after searching his purse for links and dutifully returned the purse and its content and reject gratification offered him by the owner.
Here are the comments expressed on the Facebook page of our Editor, Tunde Abatan…
- God be with Citizen John.
Nigeria is blessed with honest people.
But let’s ask ourselves: does honesty pays in this land?
How many has that same honesty sent to where they will never have ended if not for their honest disposition?
And how many honest people get what they ought to get fairly?
But in all, thank goodness, we’re all gonna be landlord in the cemeteries by and by so, maybe in the end, honesty will have its rewards at the feet of the Lord.
But here in Nigeria, with your write up, do honest people get recognition?
And that’s what made the Citizen Johns of this world to stand out.
Remember when we were growing up, we were, at each turn, have it drummed into our skulls that honesty was the best policy and even our parents then used to inscribe it on their cars and trucks; ‘HONESTY IS THE BEST POLICY’
If your friend travels out of your locality and comes back home with sudden wealth within a spell of time; you run away from him especially if no one knows his source of sudden wealth.
But today, what do you have? The dishonest ones get recognition, political powers and then make laws to mess with our lives and further milk us with reckless abandon.
Where were our virtues which made us decent men just a mere 4 decade back?
As we wallow in corruption, dishonesty and serial raping ( to borrow from you), May God send us more of citizen Johns of this clime and heal our nation.
Awon eni ti agbojule ko jeni agba. ( those we relied on to bring back the old order, to fight corruption and a whip us back in line are now worse than the former). They’re bunch of common thieves in borrowed garbs and have been exposed!
God bless you Citizen John and your likes wherever you may all be.

Great guy Citizen John.
Unfortunately, our leadership class will not allow a man like him climb to the top. He may not be given the platform to lead at all.
Looking at how much a councilor will spend to obtain nomination form people lie John may not be able to.
