Thank you citizen John

On Thursday August 13 2020, I boarded Keke Marwa from my Ogba office on my way home to Iju enroute Fagba on a visit.
Few minutes before I disembarked,I opened my wallet and paid for the transport fare but forgot to return same inside my pocket.
Few minutes after,I discovered the error but alas my wallet containing three ATM cards,my drivers license and other valuables was gone.

Citizen John

I walked briskly inside the Access bank branch to block at least one of the cards and started making plans on how to retrieve the other documents.
Alas, after thirty minutes my phone rang!. It was my wife who called to ask me where I was and whether I left home with my purse.
To cut the long story short, the honest and trustworthy citizen John, the Marwa rider saw my purse and decided to look for numbers to call after he called my number on my complimentary card but I didn’t pick.
Citizen John described his location for my wife and behold after 45 minutes,he handed over to me my lost purse with my ATM cards, the money inside and all other valuables intact.
To my surprise,he refused to accept my monetary gift even after I pleaded with him…..’don’t worry sir’,was his response.
With citizens like John- a young man struggling to earn a decent living ,self contentment, honesty and diligence , a virtue rare among our leaders is the watchword.
With young men like him, then there is still a glimmer of Hope. Hope that after all, there is still a redeeming value left for us as a people serially raped by her rapacious leaders at all levels.
He is a shinning example to other upcoming young men and older citizens.
For our leaders in high and low places swimming in privileges reserved for the rich, yet helping themselves by dipping their hands into the nations treasury;cornering resources meant for the development of the nation and provision of basic amenities for the less- privileged and poor, Citizen John will forever remain a reference point.
A reference point in a nation serially raped and pillaged by so- called ‘honourable’ leaders at all levels, deficient in integrity and honour and who in spite of public outcry, have continued to use their privileged position to further use the resources of the nation that should have been used to develop the country and uplift the citizens but instead divert and corner it to satisfy their insatiable appetite for brigandage.
They have by this action over the years, dimmed the hope of the young for a better tomorrow. Definitely, judgement day will come sooner than later.
Once again,Thank you citizen John!
