Maigida Charity Foundation showers palliatives on Ogbomoso residents

Over one million residents in Ogbomoso were during the week presented with various palliative items in a bid to provide succour to the people during these perilous times as COVID-19 pandemic ravages the world. Behind the kind gesture is a foremost Oshogbo-based charity outfit, Maigida Charity Foundation, founded by Dr. Samson Adewale Adegoke Maigida.

In its move to cushion the biting effects of the COVID-19 lockdown, the Foundation made available to be centrally distributed among residents of Oshogbo rice, gari, semovita, semolina, groundnut oil and noodles from its offices and the palace of the Onpetu in Ogbomoso.

In a message to the people at the inauguration of the distribution penultimate Monday, the royal father, Oba Sunday Adedapo Oyediran, the Onpetu of Ijeru Land thanked the foundation and Dr. Samson Adewale Adegoke for acceding to his request for the people and prayed that God should intercede on behalf of all nations of the world in seeing an end to this global pandemic.

In a statement in Ogbomoso on Thursday,Media Consultant to the Foundation, Adegboyega Ogunosun, noted that sequel to consultations with its board of trustees chairman, Chief Badmus Gbadamosi, and prominent traditional ruler, the Onpetu of Ijeru Land, Oba Sunday Adedapo Oyediran, as well as a Community leader, Engr. Dayo Lawal, the founder, Dr Samson Adewale Adegoke, approved the procurements of the palliative materials, advising that as many as possible residents of Ogbomoso should be made to enjoy the largesse without ethnic or religious sentiments.

According to the statement,the beneficiaries, asides majority of the people, included the blind centre, the Christian Association of Nigeria and the Muslim Societies of Nigeria. Others were the security agencies in Ogbomoso and peasant farmers.

The programme which commenced on Monday, May 18, came to an end on Friday, May 22, 2020 amidst accolades and prayers for Dr. Samson Adewale Adegoke and the Maigida Charity Foundation.

It is on record that since it’s inception eight years ago, the Maigida Charity Foundation has remained focused and consistent in the areas of Scholarship for indigent students, empowerment for widows, and grants for artisans and upcoming entrepreneurs.
