Through its unwavering commitment to providing safe water improved sanitation and better hygiene practices, WaterAid Nigeria is delighted to take the centre stage in the 2025 Global Social Impact Report.
This showcases the collective impact of PepsiCo, the PepsiCo Foundation, partner organisations and communities working together to help strengthen local systems and create lasting progress around the world.
The report highlights how partnerships, locally led solutions, and investments in people are helping expand access to food and safe water, support farming livelihoods, and create pathways to workforce opportunity.
Through its three-year partnership with PepsiCo and the PepsiCo Foundation, WaterAid Nigeria implemented the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Project (WASHIP) across three Local Council Development Areas in Lagos State, contributing to long-term resilience and community health in underserved peri-urban settlements.
Together, the initiative helped provide access to safe, reliable water and sanitation services for more than 54,000 people across communities, schools, and a primary health centre in Lagos. The project also reached over 900,000 people with education on safe water and hygiene practices, trained 35 women as female local area mechanics (FLAMs) to operate and maintain solar-powered water facilities, and established 37 WASH Committees to support long-term community ownership and sustainability.
“Before the new facility, it was very messy. Some students didn’t even want to use the toilet. Now, everything is better. Having these new facilities has made it easier for us to focus in school,” said Ibitayo Grace, student at of Ojodu Junior High School, Lagos.
This report reflects the power of partnership and what we have been able to accomplish together by listening to communities, investing in people, and building solutions designed for long-term impact,” said Monica Bauer, Senior Vice President, Social Impact, PepsiCo, and President, PepsiCo Foundation.
