One of the aspirants for the Kaduna Central Senate race, Yerima Shettima, has withdrawn from the contest, citing loyalty to the APC and the need for party unity ahead of the elections.

A few weeks ago, some stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna State had endorsed the candidature of Shehu Sani for the Senate race.

However, addressing a press conference on Sunday, Shettima said his decision followed “wide consultations and deep reflection”, stressing that his withdrawal should not be seen as an act of fear or weakness but a commitment to discipline and collective progress within the ruling party.

The APC aspirant pledged continued support for the party and called on his supporters to rally behind all candidates emerging under the APC platform.

“I hereby formally announce my withdrawal from the Kaduna Central Senatorial race in good spirit and align accordingly with party decisions,” he declared.

Shettima also urged reconciliation among aggrieved party members, warning that unity remains critical to the APC’s success in Kaduna State and across the country.

He thanked party stakeholders, members of the Capacity Movement led by Shehu Sani Sado, and his campaign council for their loyalty and sacrifices throughout his campaign journey.

The former aspirant reaffirmed his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, describing his loyalty to both leaders as “sacrosanct and unwavering”.

Shettima said he would continue working for the peace, unity, and development of Kaduna State and Nigeria.
