MultiChoice Nigeria has unveiled four new subscription packages for DStv and GOtv, promising more content, greater flexibility, and improved value for subscribers from November 5, 2026.

The company’s chief executive officer, Kemi Omotosho, announced the new packages, branded DStv Expect More and GOtv, at a media briefing held at its headquarters in Victoria Island, Lagos, on Tuesday.

DStv’s new packages are Starter, Select, Sports and Premium, while GOtv subscribers can choose from Easy, Starter, Select and Sports.

Speaking at the event, Omotosho said the changes were part of a broader strategy to attract subscribers, simplify subscription choices and respond to changing viewing habits.Buy Maps

“We are very proud to be part of the Canal+ Group. What does that mean for us? Before, we were a pan-African company. Now we are global, right? And that has a lot of benefits for skills,” she said.

She explained that the partnership would create opportunities for the exchange of expertise in content, technology and personnel across the two companies.

According to her, MultiChoice also recognised that it had not introduced new products for some time and needed to evolve with its customers.

“The fact on the table is we haven’t launched new products in a long time. Some people might perceive us as a big scale. You know, there’s no creativity. We don’t care; we’ve been passing price increases and doing all these things. What we’re here to tell you is that we overhaul the entire strategy of the business,” she said.

Omotosho noted that viewers now consume content across multiple devices, including smart televisions, tablets and mobile phones, making flexibility increasingly important.

“The second reason is our viewers have changed. You mentioned smart TVs, iPads, phones. Customers are consuming content across multiple platforms. So we call it in our world technology agnostic, which means you can consume from streaming, from satellite, from terrestrial, anyhow you want to consume, and you can do that across multiple devices at the same time,” she said.

She described the new packages as the first step in the company’s strategy to simplify its offerings and provide more value for money.

“We’re solving for simplicity. We think we have too many packs today. We’re solving for better value for money for our customers, and we’re giving our customers choice,” she added.

Under the new DStv structure, Starter costs N6,000 monthly, Select N11,000, Sports N21,000 and Premium N44,500.

Omotosho said subscribers could choose an entry-level package and move to a higher tier as their viewing needs changed.

“We’re giving you more choice: four simple packs from entry pack to the very best of sports and premium. More flexibility: you can choose which pack you want, right? And the higher you go, the more content you get. So you can decide to start on Starter, move to Sports, move to Premium,” she said.

She added that the company was offering complimentary access to DStv Stream and a N15,000 decoder and subscription offer for customers choosing either DStv or GOtv.

Senior MultiChoice Nigeria executive Tope Oshunkeye said the new packages would also feature new and revamped channels covering sports, films, local productions and international entertainment.Nigeria merchant bank

He announced the introduction of SuperSport Kick Off, which brings selected sports content together at a more accessible price, and M-Net Movies Plus, which combines offerings from M-Net Movies 1 and M-Net Movies 2.

M-Net Stars is also being introduced to feature Hollywood films and familiar screen personalities, while Africa Magic Family has been rebranded as Africa Magic Plus.

Explaining the differences between the DStv packages, Oshunkeye described Premium as the top tier, offering a broad range of international sports, including Formula 1, MotoGP, tennis and international boxing.Entertainment news

He said the Sports package would focus on major football competitions, including the English Premier League and UEFA Champions League.

“It’s got the best of the UEFA Champions League now. It’s all compressed and it comes down, all of the UEFA Champions League games. That’s all football, all of the Premier League. And that’s what Sport really stands for,” he said.

He described Select as a package centred on local entertainment, while Starter would provide a variety of content at an entry-level price.

“This is the one that is, you know, never really was legal; it’s called Local at its core. It’s called big, big local flavor in it,” he said of Select.

Speaking about Starter, he added: “Starter is like that young sibling that is really well endowed, you know, just well endowed. You’re like, how come this one just has a lot of variety?”

Oshunkeye said the new structure was designed to make more content accessible at different price points.

“It’s all about value, and that’s exactly what this new era is about around, with reintroducing around expect more, expect more. That’s the new value that comes with it,” he said.

He further highlighted the role of streaming, saying subscribers would not necessarily need a satellite dish or decoder to access DStv content.

“If your style is to have a dish, you know, decoder, remote, all well and good. But we’re also seeing everyone moving on to mobile and how to, you know, smart TV. And then there’s without a dish, without a decoder, you can also get a DSTV at all of these price points,” he said.

He described the four DStv packages as having distinct offerings, with Premium providing the widest selection of entertainment and sports, while Sports focuses on major competitions, including the English Premier League and UEFA Champions League.Entertainment news

He said the new Sports package would give subscribers access to all UEFA Champions League games and Premier League football at N21,000, compared with the previous top-end price of about N30,000 mentioned during the presentation.

Oshunkeye said the new packages would be available from November 5, adding that subscribers could access DStv through satellite equipment or streaming on compatible devices.

The overhaul comes as MultiChoice seeks to strengthen its position in a changing pay television market and respond to competition from streaming services.

French media group CANAL+ took effective control of MultiChoice Group in September 2025 after its mandatory takeover offer became unconditional. The integration has opened opportunities for cooperation in content, technology and distribution across the combined group’s international operations.

MultiChoice said the new packages represent the first step in its wider strategy to refresh its offerings and give subscribers more reasons to remain on its platforms.
