The Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has said that spiritual leaders will continue to shape society’s destiny and strengthen its stability in a message at a thanksgiving service where Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor and Archbishop Felix Omobude praised God for surviving a recent air incident.
Governor Oborevwori spoke on Sunday during the thanksgiving service at the Word of Life Bible Church in Warri, Delta State.
Oborevwori said spiritual fathers remained essential to leadership, governance, and national development across generations.
He warned politicians against dishonouring respected clerics, saying such actions could attract consequences.
“Any politician who disrespects fathers of faith is heading for doom,” the governor said.
He added that spiritual guidance, prayers, and godly counsel remained indispensable in public service.

Also present was the Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly, Emomotimi Guwor, and other senior government officials.
In an emotional goodwill message, Oborevwori described Oritsejafor as a spiritual father whose ministry had transformed countless lives worldwide.
He said: “Today, I am standing before our Fathers of Faith, and I feel deeply honoured to be here.
“I told my deputy governor we must attend this celebration because it is not a funeral gathering.Nigerian sports coverage
“It is a celebration of God’s faithfulness and mercy.
“We thank God for preserving him and Archbishop Felix Omobude.”
The governor recalled his long-standing relationship with Oritsejafor, saying he had always admired his service to Christianity and humanity.
He said the presence of clerics from different places reflected Oritsejafor’s enduring influence through ministry and mentorship.
He said: “I made it a duty to honour papa’s invitation because of the role he continues to play.
“He continues to impact the body of Christ and the lives of many people.”
The governor praised Oritsejafor’s commitment to Delta State, Nigeria, and the Christian faith.
He said the cleric had raised men, women, and children making positive impacts across the world.

Oborevwori urged believers to emulate spiritual leaders and uphold the values they preached.
Speaking during the service, Oritsejafor recounted several moments when he narrowly escaped death.
He said: “God has repeatedly preserved me from tragedy.
“I cannot explain it, but I know God loves me, and He is a good God.”
Delivering the sermon, Apostle David Zilly-Aggrey described the incident as evidence of divine preservation.
Zilly-Aggrey said: “Thanksgiving remains a powerful acknowledgement of God’s faithfulness.
“Throughout scripture, God has shown Himself as the defender and covering of His children.”
He prayed that every plan of death or calamity against God’s people would be cancelled.
