Havoc by Suspected herdsmen
Several people are feared dead after suspected herdsmen launched a violent attack on a community in Mararaba, near Abuja, triggering panic and mass displacement of residents.
According to reports, the attackers stormed Aso A community near Jumai Estate in Mararaba in what residents described as a retaliatory assault following an earlier dispute involving a farmer.
The guπmen reportedly invaded the area, attacking residents indiscriminately and forcing many families to flee their homes for safety.
Eyewitnesses said the assailants, armed with dangerous weapons, moved from house to house, leaving several people injured while others were feared killed.
Some houses were also reportedly destroyed during the attack, worsening fears among residents in nearby communities.
Residents said the attack created confusion and fear across the Mararaba axis, with many people abandoning their homes overnight. Some victims were said to have sustained injuries, while others remain unaccounted for as security agencies continue efforts to assess the situation.

As of the time of filing this report, security agencies were yet to release an official casualty figure, while community leaders have called for urgent government intervention to prevent further violence.
The latest incident has heightened concerns over rising insecurity in communities bordering Abuja, where residents have repeatedly demanded increased security presence to protect lives and property.
