Police declare man wanted over murder in Bayelsa

The Bayelsa State Police Command has declared a prime suspect, Bodmas Kemepadei, wanted over the alleged conspiracy and murder of 24-year-old Patrick Peresuodei in Amassoma/Yenagoa Area of the state.

Peresuodei’s death in January 2026 sparked protests and widespread outrage over alleged torture by security personnel and a local influencer.

The incident reportedly stemmed from a disagreement on Facebook and led to allegations of extrajudicial killing, prompting a state government investigation and the arrest of several personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.

The State Commissioner of Police, Iyamah Edebor, disclosed in a statement on Sunday that a warrant of arrest had been issued against the suspect by the High Court of Bayelsa State.

He said, “Bodmas Prince Kemepadei (m) wanted by the Office of the Commissioner of Police, The Nigeria Police Force, Bayelsa State command

“The above-named person is hereby declared wanted by the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) in an alleged case of Conspiracy and Murder of Patrick Peresuodei. Offence was committed at Amassoma / Yenagoa.

“A Warrant of Arrest has been issued against him by the High Court of Bayelsa State of Nigeria.
