Barely  a day after it presented list of nominees to the Kingmakers for nomination, security operatives have sealed up the Palace of the Awujale of Ijebuland.

Despite this some cars are still parked in front of the palace with police keeping an eye on activities in and around the palace.

This is coming as the Department  of State Services,DSS have summoned all the nominees whose names were sent on Tuesday to the kingmakers by the Funsengbuwa Ruling House for a meeting.

Professor  Tokunbo Yusuff , the vice Chairman  of the Fusengbuwa ruling house who could not confirm the sealing of the palace  told Newdawnngr.com that since the Ogun state government are in control, they must have a reason for taking the action.

He said the ruling house would await any action taken by the state government in the bid to install the new monarch.

The Department of State Services, DSS, it will be recalled late on Tuesday cancelled the ‘Meet-and-Greet’ meeting earlier scheduled with the Awujale nominees this morning (Wednesday), at the palace.

Consequently, the Service has directed all the nominees for Awujale stool to report to its office in Ijebu-Ode, by 11.00 am.

The invitation to the DSS office is contained in a letter dated 21 January 2026, and signed by the Secretary, Awujale Afobaje Council, Chief Ayotunde Ola Odulaja.

 

The letter sighted by Prompt News reads in part: “We write to formally inform you that the meet-and-greet earlier scheduled for this morning at the Aafin Awujale has been cancelled.

“Accordingly, the Awujale nominees are hereby directed to report to the Department of State Services (DSS) office.

Kindly ensure that all concerned nominees are punctual and comply strictly with this directive.”
