Tanker explodes in Kaduna,many feared dead
Several people are feared dead following a fuel-laden tanker explosion in the Dan Magaji area of Zaria, Kaduna State.
The incident occurred at about 8:30 a.m. on Monday, near Rochas Foundation School, along the Kaduna–Kano expressway bypass from Kwangila to Dan Magaji.
According to Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency publication, the crash involved two tankers and two passenger-filled Golf cars.

Eyewitnesses reported that the collision triggered five loud explosions, sparking a massive fire that sent thick plumes of smoke into the sky over the highway.
“All the occupants of the cars died on the spot, except one driver who survived but sustained severe burns,” a witness recounted.
The publication noted that emergency responders, security agencies, and fire service personnel have cordoned off the area. Motorists and pedestrians have been urged to avoid the route as rescue and recovery operations continue.
As at press time, the exact number of casualties had yet to be confirmed.
