The Lekan Otufodunrin Mentees Network (LOMNET) has released “Milestones of a Media Icon”, a curated collection of plaudits and testimonials celebrating the 60th birthday of veteran journalist and mentor Lekan Otufodunrin.
Compiled by Sanmi Falobi with editorial assistance from Dayo Emmanuel and Blessing Oladunjoye, the publication chronicles Otufodunrin’s 35‑year career, from his leadership roles at The Punch and The Nation to founding the Media Career Development Network (MCDN) and Journalists for Christ (JFC) International Outreach.

Backed by CEE‑HOPE Nigeria, the Wole Soyinka Centre for Investigative Journalism and other partners, the booklet features contributions from colleagues, protégés and industry leaders, including testimonies to his selfless mentorship, ethics‑driven leadership and pioneering capacity‑building initiatives. Highlights include recollections of Otufodunrin’s support for young journalists through fellowships, his advocacy for digital media innovation, and his role in shaping journalism education at the University of Lagos and beyond.
