The Lagos State Government has sealed off Tapa House located on Imam Dauda Street in the Surulere area for discharging raw sewage into public drainage, a move described as a threat to public health and environmental safety.
This enforcement action was carried out on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, by the Lagos State Wastewater Management Office (LSWMO) as part of efforts to promote a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable environment across the state.
Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Mr. Tokunbo Wahab, disclosed the development in a statement, warning that all forms of environmental pollution would be met with stiff sanctions in line with the state’s Environmental Management and Protection Law.
“Lagosians must embrace proper wastewater management and hygiene practices to safeguard public health and ensure environmental sustainability,” Wahab said.
