Late billionaire, politician, and former President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief (Engr. Dr.) Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, has reportedly barred his wife, Lolo Frances Chinonyerem Iwuanyanwu, from remarrying after his death or risk forfeiting her inheritance.
According to the contents of the Will, which was unveiled on June 16, 2025, by its administrator, Chief Chukwuma Ekomaru (SAN), Chief Iwuanyanwu outlined a comprehensive distribution of his assets among his family and select beneficiaries, with specific conditions attached—particularly for his wife.
Frances, who married the elder statesman in September 2013 at the age of 26 while he was 72, was bequeathed the iconic “Legacy House” on Port Harcourt Road, Owerri, under a binding instruction that the property must never be sold.
She also received ownership of Magil Furniture—originally managed by Iwuanyanwu’s late first wife, Eudora—as well as partial stakes in properties located in Orji, Works Layout, and Naze in Imo State.
However, the Will stipulates clearly that any attempt by Frances to remarry would lead to the forfeiture of all these entitlements.
Their son was willed the family’s Abuja residence, while the London property is to be sold. The proceeds are to be split as follows: 60% for the education of Iwuanyanwu’s youngest son, 30% to his first son, Jide, and 10% to Ezinne, who currently resides in the property, to assist her in securing a new home.
In a notable philanthropic move, the “Glass House” near the Orji flyover in Owerri is to be converted into a public trust governed by an independent board, focused on charitable causes and community development.
Other assets located in Abuja, Imo State, and other parts of Nigeria were shared among Iwuanyanwu’s five children, who described the Will as “honorable and just.”
Chief Iwuanyanwu passed away in April 2024 at the age of 81.
