Says he made indelible marks to Law,Education and Industry
Former Governor of Ogun state,Senator Ibikunle Amosun has described the demise of notable industrialist and Egba Chief,Olatunde Abudu,Maiyegun of Egbaland who passed on Monday aged 96, as a great loss to the state and country.
In a statement he signed Monday,Amosun recalled his sterling qualities and his contribution to the industrialisation of Abeokuta,the state capital and his philanthropic gestures.

I mourn the passing of renowned industrialist, philanthropist, and elder statesman, Chief Olatunde Ayinla Abudu, who died in the early hours of Monday, 9 June 2025, at the age of 96.
Chief Abudu’s death is a great loss to Egbaland, Ogun State and Nigeria. He was a man of great repute, whose life was defined by service, integrity, and commitment to the socio-economic development of Egbaland, Ogun State and Nigeria.
A successful businessman, Chief Abudu belonged to the generation of illustrious sons of Egbaland and Ogun State who have made indelible marks in Law, Education, Business, Health, and other key sectors. His role as the ‘Mayegun of Egbaland’ and Seriki of Oke-Ona Egba, symbolised his lifelong dedication to community service, peace, unity, and progress of Egbaland and Ogun State.
As an industrialist, his pioneering efforts in industry and unwavering support for education, healthcare, and national development remain a reference point in selfless service.
A believer in the economic emancipation of Egbaland, Chief Abudu will be remembered for establishing Midland Galvanising Limited, Nobel House College, and several other industries and institutions in Abeokuta, Ogun State, as well as for being a community man who was deeply committed to his roots. He also left a lasting legacy as a Founding Member, Trustee and Life President of the exclusive Abeokuta Club.

On a personal note, I will miss his wise counsel. I recall that, as Governor of Ogun State, our administration benefited immensely from his peace loving spirit, calm demeanor, experience and statesmanship, which assisted us in navigating sensitive matters of the State, particularly issues affecting the four sections of Egbaland. He will be sorely missed.
I pray that Allah (SWT) will grant him Aljannah Firdaus. I also extend heartfelt condolences to the Abudu family, particularly the children and grandchildren, and pray that God will grant them the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.
