The Supreme Court has directed the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to halt the disbursement of funds to the Rivers State government until a duly constituted House of Assembly is in place.
Regarding the legitimacy of lawmakers who defected from the party under which they were elected, the Court ruled that the Court of Appeal’s decision remains final and binding, as the appeal to the Supreme Court on the matter was withdrawn and subsequently dismissed.
Additionally, the apex court ordered the House of Assembly, led by Martin Amaewhule, to reconvene immediately with all duly elected members.
