It was a moment of celebration at The Bells University of Technology, Ota, Ogun State as the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Jeremiah O. Ojediran, alongside the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ngozi U. Arisa, and the Sports Director, Dr. Oyewole Oluwapamilerin, receives prestigious awards in recognition of their contributions to sport development, among others. The institution also receive honourary award.

 

The presentation of the award was held April 9, 2026, at the Vice Chancellor’s office in Ota, Ogun State.

 

Prof. Ojediran was decorated with the title “Icon of Youth Empowerment, Transformation of Hope,” while Prof. Arisa was equally recognised as “ Icon of Youth Empowerment, Transformation of Hope. Dr. Oluwapamilerin receives “Youth Empowerment Ambassador’ and the Bells University earned “Best Supporting University.” award.

 

These awards were conferred in appreciation of their pivotal roles in supporting the successful staging of the 3rd Olota of Ota Male and Female Soccer Competition, hosted in honour of Oba Abdulkabir Adeyemi Obalanlege.

 

In his acceptance remarks, Prof. Ojediran expressed deep gratitude to both the organisers and the traditional ruler for the recognition.

 

“Thank you for your thoughtfulness, kindness, and generosity. This honour is deeply appreciated,” he said.

 

The tournament was organised by Travellers Network Magazine in collaboration with the Olota of Ota.Oba (Prof) Abdulkabir Adeyemi Obalanlege. Awori kingdom. (Ekun II)

Speaking on the rationale behind the awards, the Publisher of the Magazine, Olaniyi Akinbode, noted that the recipients were selected after a thorough evaluation of their outstanding support and commitment to the success of the competition.

 

“The award is our way of expressing sincere appreciation. The university community played a crucial role in ensuring the success of the tournament. We look forward to sustaining this collaboration with an institution that continues to exemplify excellence”, Akinbode stated.

The Olota Football Competition and Olota Marathon, Track and Field Events are one of its kind as it is tailored to feature all Secondary Schools, (Male/Female) competition in Ado-Ota Local Government of Ogun State.

 

Meanwhile, the 4th edition of Olota of Ota Cup and 2nd Marathon Field and Tracks Sports event will come up first week, October 2026.
