Flamingos of Nigeria to play ‘Jolof Derby’ WAFU Girls Final on Sunday

…Nigeria beat Benin Republic, Ghana Wallop CIV 5-0 in Semis.

Nigeria on Thursday night in Accra Ghana slammed stubborn Republic of Benin girls 2-0 in the second semifinal of the maiden WAFU Zone B U17 Girls tournament.

Mary Nkpa sporting the no 14 jersey had marvelously scored a penalty in the 70th minute.

The second goal for Nigeria was a terrible defensive error that was a gift to Peace Effiong who just tipped in the ball in the 79th minute.

The Benin Republic Girls played better in the first half contesting every move only to lose sail in the second half.

Earlier, Ghana trounced Cote D’Ívoire 5-0 in the first semifinal with Christiana Ashiaka scoring another hat-trick for the Black Maidens before half time.

Zipporah Ayantoya and Seidat Wahab pumped in two more goals in the second half to make it 5-0.

Nigeria and Ghana will play in the maiden WAFU Zone B finals for the Gold Medal in a Jollof derby while Cote D’Ivoire will slug it out with Benin Republic for the Bronze on Sunday.

Burkina Faso and Togo had withdrawn from the competition.
