The Amuwo Odofin Local Government (AOLG) Area of Lagos State, was calm and peaceful on Thursday as residents and many businesses shunned the protest and chose to remain indoors.

A correspondent of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) who monitored activities in the area, reports that vehicular movement was not observed until about 8:00 a.m. within Festac Town.

NAN reports that there was low turnout of people around the 7th Avenue, 23 Road and 24 Road axis of the community, as at 10:30 a.m.

Schools were shut and pupils did not attend summer school activities, which began in many schools on July 29.

The gates to banks were closed and there were no activities observed, except at the Guaranty Trust Bank on 23 Road, where few individuals were using the ATM machines.

 

The Council Secretariat, which is usually a beehive of activities, was almost deserted, as at 11:20 a.m, when the presence of a few members of staff was observed.

NAN, however observed that business activities began to pick up at about 11:30 a.m., particularly around the 512 Road axis of Festac Town.

 

NAN also reports that between Festac Town and Second Rainbow bus-stop, security presence, including the police and LNSC, was only observed at Apple Junction roundabout.

There was low turnout of commuters at Second Rainbow bus-stop with few vehicles out for business. (NAN)
