……Says No political parties in the country but a group of money bags who bandied together to steal
Governors in the country have been accused of destroying the local government system by witholding funds meant for development at the grassroots level.
Founder of Pan African Strategic Group,Panafstrag, Major General Ishola Williams,retd told the Newdawnngr in an exclusive Interview that as a result he has joined the clamour for direct disbursement of Funds from the Federation Account to the Third tier of government to facilitate Developmemt at the grassroots.
Gen Williams, made the remark while answering questions from Newdawnngr.com team on the occasion of this years Celebration of Democracy day which also marks 25 Years of return to civil rule.
He said that allowing state Governors control over statutory Local government Funds through the State/Local government Joint Account is the bane of development.
According to him,each state in the country should be allowed to conduct both local government election and governorship election and leave the Independent National Electoral Commission,INEC, to conduct both the National Assembly election and Presidential election.
Gen Williams disagrees with the argument that state Governors would misuse the Powers of state police adding that the Federal government is also doing same.
“State’s should be allowed to conduct their own election while the INEC should be saddled with only Federal Elections.
“We should not expect United State’s to come down here to teach us how to conduct Our Elections,let us do it in Our own way” he declared.
Said he,”We spent too much in conducting elections.
Our Elections are too expensive because we spent too much money because and this is also because everybody involved in the election want to benefit from it one way or the other.

He argued that there is no Presidential system anywhere in the World where local Elections are conducted by the Federal government .
Speaking on the nations economy,he said provision of free Education and Health services all over the country is the answer to mass poverty adding that only the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo had the vision about the countrys problem.
He said that for now there is no real political parties in the country but a group of money bags who bandied together to hijack Power and seize the countrys resources.
