Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo has revealed that Emirates Airlines is gearing up to recommence its flights to Nigeria.
This revelation came after a productive meeting between Keyamo and the UAE Ambassador to Nigeria, Salem Saeed Al-Shamsi, held at the UAE Embassy in Abuja.
During the meeting, Emirates Airlines confirmed to Keyamo a specific date for its return to Nigeria, which is poised to be formally announced by the airline in the forthcoming days.
Keyamo shared this significant update via X.com on Wednesday, underscoring the progress made in the aviation sector.
In his statement, Keyamo expressed, “Yesterday, I paid a working visit to the Ambassador of the UAE to Nigeria, His Excellency, Salem Saeed Al-Shamsi, at the UAE Embassy in Abuja.”
“He handed me a correspondence from Emirates Airline indicating a definite date for their resumption of flights to Nigeria. That date will be formally announced by Emirates Airlines in a matter of days,” Keyamo added.
The decision to resume flights follows the resolution of issues concerning the repatriation of Emirates’ earnings in US dollars, which precipitated the suspension of its operations in Nigeria back in October 2022.
