If there is anyone who is in doubt about the ephemerality of life, the sad and sudden death of the Chief Executive Officer of Access Bank, Herbert Wigwe, alongside his wife and son, and the former Chairman of the Nigeria Exchange Group, Abimbola Ogunbanjo, have further confirmed that life is a journey and we will all disembark at our appointed time.
For the past two days, I have lived in deliberate denial, hoping and praying that there was some mix-up and that the horrific news coming from the border of California-Nevada, United States, would ultimately be a hoax. Nothing changed; it is time to confront reality and accept the will of God for Herbert Wigwe, his wife, son, and Abimbola Ogunbajo of Pa Chris Ogunbanjo clan of Erunwon, Ijebu, Ogun State. May God forgive their earthly sins and reward them with eternal life.

Wigwe and Wife
I join millions of our Country men and women, stakeholders of Corporate Nigeria, Wigwe family, friends, and associates to mourn the shocking and untimely passage of one of Nigeria’s best in the banking and financial institutions sector, humanist per excellence, and well-rounded soul, Hebert Wigwe, CFR.
Herbert lived life in the full consciousness that every mortal had a date with destiny and what mattered most was not in the number of years, but the courage, fruitfulness, and legacies each one of us leaves behind. I am pleased that God availed him the grace to reach the pinnacle of his chosen career and to fulfill most of his dreams.
My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with his aged parents, the Wigwe Clan, the Access Bank family, business associates and Corporate Nigeria. May the good Lord comfort us all in these difficult and sad times.
Fare Thee Well, dear Herbert.
Senator Ibikunle Amosun, CON, FCA
