Super Eagles of Nigeria on Saturday evening defeated Cameroon sending the opponent out of the AFCON competition by 2 goals to nothing.
Nigeria will now meet Angola in the next stage of the competition.
It was a sweet victory for the Nigerians who were renewing their age-long rivalry with the 36th minute goal by Ademola Lookman who also later at the 80th minute of the match, scored the second goal.
The same player had earlier in the 10th minute of the match scored a goal which was however ruled an offside after VAR review.
Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen had a tough day with the close marking he was subjected to for the entire duration of the match.
The Nigerian goalkeep Nwaballi was taken out of the match after he was badly brought down for the second time.
He was replaced by Francis Nzoho.
