Ex-ASUU president missing

A former President of the Academic Staff Union of Universities Prof Dipo Fasina, has been declared missing.

Fasina, who is popularly called Jingo by his students, was said to be on his way to Algeria when he reportedly missed his connecting flight from Istanbul Turkey.

This was said to have happened since Saturday July 1.

ASUU declares total, indefinite strike

Fasina, who had taught Philosophy at the Obafemi Awolowo University Ile Ife, is also known to be a human and Labour rights activist.

His tenure as president of ASUU had witness serious of confrontation with government over the welfare and funding of universities.
He was to later set up the Philosophy Department of the Olabisi Onabanjo University Ago Iwoye in Ogun state.
Fasina was said to be in his way to Algeria as a guest of the North African country.

Media reports quoted chairman of the Nigerian Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri, to have said the commission is aware of the sudden disappearance of Fasina and working on it.
A lecturer at the Obafemi Awolowo University who spoke with the NPO Reports on condition of anonymity, said his friends are worried.
Fasina is 76 years old.
