Uneasy calm now surrounds Lagos International Trade Fair Complex (LITFC) following the sale of empty portion of lands by the immediate past minister Hon Adeniyi Adebayo, minister of trade and industry appointed executive director of the Lagos Trade Fare Complex.
Incidentally the parcel of lands are part of what the immediate past board of LITFC had recommended to the BPE through the trade ministry to concession instead of concessioning the vast complex.
The land, 100 hectacres, was advised by a Canadian Transaction Adviser during the tenure of the last board tenure to the BPE to concession.
Now the sales that happened during the last administration is now raising hair as the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Directorate of State Security Services (DSSS) we learnt have invited some members of staff of litfc and the Ed.
One of the government agency official in the complex that we spoke to had this to say: ” This man Okoye don want sell the whole trade fair finish , he has sold almost everywhere and the Igbos that are buying it are building houses there all everywhere to Aspamda.
“I don’t know how they can petition the man because he’s telling them that those that want to buy that land are on their own that if anything happens that they should not mention him because if anything happens he will follow boarder and escape and that he is not giving them any paper to back them up as they are buying the land.
I don’t know how EFCC can come into the matter and arrest him,” our source said.
According to the source the ED has not spent up to a year as the executive director of the complex and he is determined to sell everything.
We also learnt that petitions have been fired to EFCC, which has led to the anti-graft agency’s involvement in the matter.
