The water project was commissioned by Oba Ogunleye, accompanied by Lion Club members from Abeokuta and officials of Akinale CDA.
In his speech,Oba Ogunleye commended the Lions Club for their humanitarian services. He also gave kudos to some of his old friends and journalists from home and abroad who are constantly touching the lives of Akinale Community through their humanitarian donations.
In addition to the borehole project, the Lions Club has also promised to assist Akinale Community to erect a primary health Centre in the town.
It is on record that for the past 10 years or so, the Rotary Club of Abeokuta has adopted Akinale for regular social-economic intervention. The women in Akinale,it will be recalled, have also benefited on a regular basis microfinance loans to boost their subsistence trading and food production.
It will be recalled that for the past two years, the town hall in Akinale, built through communal efforts since 1978 and had been a venue of cultural expositions in the town and where the village square meetings hold for public interactions, had been destroyed by natural disaster of heavy storm. Neither the Local Government nor the Community Development Ministry in the state, have shown interest to utilise ecology fund to repair the building.
