Samba Boys of Brazil on Wednesday night sent debutant Dominic Republic U20 boys back to football classroom with a terrible six goal spanking, the highest ever scored by any team in the tournament in Argentina so far. The nearest achievement to this is the 4-0 blow dealt Fiji by Slovakia on the 20th of May in Group B.

Dominic Republic resisted Brazil for the first 35 minutes with their Goalkeeper, Xavier Derrig posting top class performance until the defence collapse like the German wall and THINGS FELL APART AND THE CENTER CANNOT HOLD as Novelist Chinua Achebe wrote.

Under 20 World Cup:Nigeria pecks Italy 2-0.

Utility player, Savio opened the score sheet for Brazil via a Biro assist in the 37th minute. Marcos Leonardo scored a brace again making a haul of four goals for him. He scored Brazil’s second goal of the night and in the 90+3 minute made the second goal via a Gomez assist. MM as he is called had scored Brazil’s brace in the 72nd and 87th minutes in the first round lost to Italy 2-3.

Carneiro Pedroso added the 3rd goal in the 57th after a Savio connection. Giovane scored the 4th goal in the 82nd minute from MM connection which completely brought frustration to the Dominican players as their Captain, Edison Azcona emerged the first bad boy (a terminology used for red carded players in football) of the tournament. Dominican team would have been reduced to 10 players but VAR saved Perlta from a straight red card in the 90+5th minute.

Kevin gave Gomes a thorough pass from the many mesmerizing dribble runs of the Brazilians and the 5th goal came in the 90+1st minute. Sign to start popping wine and flash warning to their next opponent, the Flying Eagles of Nigeria came in the 90+3rd minute when as said MM went rioting in front of the Dominican goal post and got the 6th goal.

So Group D table stands with Nigeria still at the top with 6 point shaving 4-1 goals chart; Brazil is second with 3 points having 8-3 goals chart; Italy has 3 points with 3-4 goals chart and Domini Republic is out with no point and 1-8 goals chart. Now the implication is that Nigeria desperately needs a draw with Brazil on Saturday to be sure of a ticket to the next round Brazil with their high goals may still be out if the team plays draw with Nigeria and Italy defeats Dominic Republic which is expected. The final whistle and players’s performance will determine who moves to the round of 16. A loss by Nigeria will be risky as the team may be out on goals difference.

To conclude Group D, the Flying Eagles of Nigeria will on Saturday 27th May try the Samba Boys of Brazil for size at the Estadio Unico Diego Armando Maradona , La Plata while Italy will have to ensure no shocker from Dominic Republic Football team at the Stadium in Mendoza with both matches played simultaneously at 1900 hours before the group C matches is decided at 2200 hours.

Brazil is reckoned to be the second most successful team at U20 in the world having won the title 5 times in 1983 at Mexico when she defeated Argentina by a lone goal to win 1st title; in 1985 at Soviet Union when she beat Spain 1-0 after beating Nigeria 2-0 in the semi; 1993 in Australia after beating Ghana 2-1; 2003 at UAE when Brazil spank rivals Spain again 1-0 and 2011 in Columbia when Portugal was humbled 3-2.
