The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that 93,469,008 Nigerians registered to vote in this year’s general elections.

At a meeting with political parties at the commission’s headquarters in Abuja on Wednesday, INEC Chairman, Prof Mahmood Yakubu said that Lagos has the highest number of registered voters with 7,060,195, while Kano State followed with 5,921,370, and Kaduna State 4,335,208.

In terms of gender, there are more male voters with 49,054,162 ( 52.5 percent) and 44,414,846 female (47.5 percent).

Young people of between 18 and 34 years constitute the majority of voters. Their figure of 37,060,399, representing 39.66 percent of the voters.

According to occupation, students lead with 26,027,481 voters.

The presidential and National Assembly elections hold on 25th February, while the governorship and state assembly polls come up on 11th March.
