Welcome to NIPM the global supply chain leadership institute Network.

I greet you all in the name of our Creator who has made it possible for us to be here today, to witness another landmark event in the history of our three associated institutions- Nigerian Institute of Production Management (NIPM), College of Production & Operations Management (COPOM) and Operations, Logistics And Supply Chain Leaders Academy (OLSCLA) which operate as an institutional group. This group is called NIPM Global Supply Chain Leadership Institute Network.

I am delighted to start with the name of our Creator, Almighty God not for religious sentiment but for due reverence to his Ominiperfection having established Production as the first law of Creation. For, without production none of us will be here present today and the earth as we know it to be would not have been in existence. Remove production from the world, any nation or any organization and you have nothing left. Production remains an immutable law. That is why the richest people in the world, who earned their riches or wealth legitimately, are the production people. They are people who created and are still creating value in the form of goods and services.

But we live in free world where a production person may choose to be rich or poor, to be a ruler or ruled, a master or slave; be employee or an employer and an entrepreneur. A production person who is subjected to servitude is like the proverbial son of a rich butcher who eats bone in the waste dump site.

As operations, supply chain and logistics managers, top/senior executives, directors and CEOs we produce goods and services; by our potentials, learning capabilities and performance we determine the fate of our organizations, our country and our world.
Today, three remarkable events are taking place. The first is the workshop on Strategies for Effective Manufacturing, Supply Chain And Logistics Waste Reduction, a unique opportunity for Mandatory Continuing Professional Education, Training And Development (MCPETD) of members. Non-members are also invited to share knowledge of industry cases, cross-learn how to solve real life/workplace naughty problems that stifle competitiveness, profitability and growth in the Nigerian business environment, and even globally.

The second event is the graduation ceremony of those who have successfully completed their professional education and training programmes leading to the award of the prestigious Professional Certificate, Diploma, Advanced Diploma and Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) in Production And Operations Management, Logistics and Supply Chain Management and so on. The third event is the Board of Directors meeting.

These programmes are backed by high level of quality assurance and the qualifications are highly recognized by Nigerian employers nationwide. The syllabuses and curriculum are designed and executed to enable the holders of NIPM/COPOM, OLSCLA CERTIFICATION to possess demonstrable world class professional competencies in the successful performance of operations and supply chain management jobs at different levels of the organization with ethical panache.
As we are aware or may need to know , the College of Production & Operations Management is a Federal Government registered professional institution with the mandate to provide opportunities for learning , acquisition of knowledge, skills and attitudinal development to meet the national manpower needs for gainful employment, increased productivity and national development . The College is an undergraduate and post –graduate level professional institution, a National Production Development Centre involved in providing management and technical education. The main object with which the College was registered is the promotion of excellence in all aspects of Production and Operations Management in Nigeria.
On June 14, 2022 Operations, Logistics and Supply Chain Leaders Academy (OLSCLA) was registered in Abuja, FCT as a higher professional education, training, examining and certification institution.
It is common knowledge that Nigerian Institute of Production Management (NIPM) was founded in 1987 and registered in 1998 to regulate the standards of practice of production and operations management nationwide.
For you to succeed in your career, business and life generally you need to acquire four basic contents to boost your personality and self worth. These will help you to improve your mental processes, discover opportunities, share knowledge and best practices, build and develop competencies and get socially connected to maximize career and business opportunities. We are in the business of helping you to increase your value.
Our purpose as an institutional group is to help you to build a successful career and business future by providing professional education, certification, diploma and membership networking programmes of world class standard. You need in-demand skills and ethical integrity to succeed in life.

It is greatly elating and rewarding for us and our dear nation to be here today to celebrate professional achievement. We are here today because we have opted to pursue knowledge, improve skills and advance our career competencies rather than being distracted in a world full of threats to many but also full of opportunities for those who can take steps required to achieve competitive advantage both in the labour market and business locally and globally. We can see greatness in ourselves, others and the world around us.

At Nigerian Institute of Production Management (NIPM), College of Production & Operations Management and Operations, Logistics And Supply Chain Leaders Academy (OLSCLA) we are committed to education, training and practice standards that promote professional excellence and high performance in industry.

As a nation we have found ourselves in the present socio-politico-economic disarray due to poor leadership, corruption, lack of strong production base, operational inefficiency and wasteful disposition.

Nigeria’s economic outlook this year, 2022 has been gloomy with GDP growth rate at 3.5 percent according to the central bank of Nigeria (CBN) while inflation remains high with the consumer price index (CPI) reaching 17.71 percent on year-on-year basis, in May 2022. Cost of living has been on the rise as Nigerians groan in difficult times. Consumer purchasing power has dwindled drastically in the face of rising inflation which some experts have put at 20 percent as of July 2022. Hence, we are discussing how waste reduction can be used as the panacea for business survival, profitability and growth.
In addition to knowledge and skills you need good character to succeed. Never neglect the need for continuous learning and re-learning. Take the code of practice and the core values seriously. Your character and ethical integrity matter in life.
As the professional body saddled with the responsibility of regulating the standards and the promotion and advancement of the profession of production and operations management as well as the improvement of supply chain performance in Nigeria we remain committed to providing the required opportunities for our members and students to advance their careers in the years ahead even as we support them to deploy greater capabilities for excellent professional and ethical performance in their organizations.
Thank you for your attention while I wish you fruitful deliberations.
