PDP N10billion alleged scandal: Two NWC members refund their N64m share to party’s coffer
The simmering financial crisis in the major opposition,People’s Democratic Party,PDP, over the disappearance of the 10 billion nomination , took a new dimension as two leaders,Deputy National Chairman South and National Vice Chairman South,Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja and Chief Dan Orbih members of the national working committee of the party respectively returned a total of sixty four million credited to their account to the party.
The money is made up of thirty six million and twenty eight million paid into their account.
In his letter dated September 29 to the National Chairman of the Party, Senator Iyorchia Ayu, Ambassador Arapaja said upon the publication in newspapers that members were allegedly paid humongous amount of money,he checked his alert and discovered that the said money was paid I to his account .
He said he has his reservations about why the money was paid into his account and asked the Chairman to confirm the receipt of the money through United Bank for Africa,UBA electronic transfer.
In his own account ,Chief Orbih said a report in one of the national dailies said members of the NWC were offered a sum of N28 million each to gloss over the scandalous missapropriation.
He added that to his shock he saw an alert of N28 million naira in his account after reading the story after which he has returned the money to the party’s account.
The money he said was paid in three tranches to the Zenith bank account of the party.
The financial scandal and crisis is also coming at a time when the party is divided down the line as a result of the choice of vice presidential candidate for the party.
It will be recalled that Rivers State Governor,Nyesome Wike has alleged that a sum of N1 billion was paid into the coffers of the party through the embattled national chairman,Ayu.
He however said the said money did not reflect in the account of the party.
The last definitely is yet to be heard on the financial crisis rocking the party.
