FHC dismisses case against APC/INEC

The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has dismissed the lawsuit filed by DIG Ekpoudom against INEC and APC for lacking in merit.

Hushpuppi: Kenyan court orders extradition of Juma, co-conspirator to U.S.

DIG Ekpoudom was a Senatorial aspirant for Akwa Ibom North-West Senatorial District for the 2023 general elections. While the APC NWC had rescheduled its Primaries to May 28, 2022, the retired Police chief conducted his own Primaries on May 27, 2022 and declared himself winner polling majority votes. He was backed by Mr. Mike Igini, the INEC REC whom the Court described as an “interloper”.

Armed with the INEC report, Ekpoudom approached the Court to validate his primary and compel the Court to declare him the candidate of the APC for the elections.

The Court held that the Primaries which produced Ekpoudom and on which he relied on to actualize his ambition was not a valid primary of the APC.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has maintained that former Minority leader of Senate and immediate past Minister in the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs Senator Godswil Akpabio was its candidate for the Senatorial District. This position has been affirmed by the judgment of Justice Nwite delivered recently.

On the basis of the said judgment which compelled INEC to publish the personal particulars of Chief Godswill Akpabio, Chief Akpabio’s name was published as the Candidate of the APC for the Senatorial District.
