Ijoko, Agbado, Akute …road: Eleyi is starting something
The amount which is part of the states indebtness was incurred on the many road infrastructure spread in all parts of the state some of which have been abandoned.
Newdawnngr.com sources revealed that the debt trap inherited by the last administration of Senator Ibikunle Amosun has been a sort of handicap in it’s bid to provide good Infrastructure for the state.
The debts it was gathered was owed to the many Chinese companies employed by the previous regime which undoubtedly embarked on unprecedented infrastructural development in all major cities on the three senatorial zones in the state.
However, of most concern now is how to pay compensation to the hundreds of landlords whose house were demolished along the 32kilometre long Ota-Ijoko-Akute axis.
Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure,
Engineer Ade Akinsanya confirmed that Governor Dapo Abiodun has released and approved the payment of compensation to landlords especially those who lost houses along the Alagbole and Akute axis of the state.
Though he did not mention the sum approved to be paid,it was learnt that payment will commence soon to alleviate the sufferings of property owners even while the roads for which their property was destroyed has been abandoned since 2013 ,a year after demolition.
However, the state government have since mobilise new contractor, Craneburge to site on both the Ijoko and Akute axis in it’s new attempt to resume work on construction of the road to realise it’s economic potentials.
“I can assure you that we will do the needful on the road and reduce the pains and burden in our people”,declares Governor Abiodun.
Engineer Akinsanya said that with the mobilisation of the contractor to site, work will continue on fixing the road .
It will be recalled that the commissioner told a group of Editors on a tour last week that other sites in the state like the Lusada-Agbara road long abandoned will be completed in record time adding,”the governor is committed to sourcing for funds to complete all abandoned projects to bring relief to the residents of the areas where the projects are sited.
The construction of the 32kilometre Ijoko-Alagbole road was embarked upon by the last administration of Governor Amosun with the demolition of several houses along the axis while most of the home owners who lost their properties are yet to be compensated contrary to promises made before the demolition.
When the six- lane project started in 2012 it was estimated to cost a princely Sixty five billion (N65billion).
However, when asked to give an estimate on who much the government will spend he said such is difficult because if the variations now being experienced as a result of falling standard of the naira and the high inflationary trend worldwide.
