Some Higher National Diploma (HND) holders in the employment of the Nigeria Civil Defence Corps have cried out to Interior Minister Rauf Aregbesola lamenting that they are being owed 26 months salary arrears.

The officers, in a petition obtained over the weekend by News Express, appealed to the Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, to mandate the Corps to pay them the arrears, explaining that when HND/BSC dichotomy was removed and they were placed on Grade Level 8, some of them were paid level 8 salaries while others did not receive theirs for 26 months.
“We, affected personnel of 2012 HND intake, are bringing our passionate appeal to Minister of Interior to use his esteemed office to mandate the NSCDC to pay our twenty-six ( 26) months outstanding arrears.
“Because during removal of HND/BSC dichotomy, we were placed on level eight (ASC 11) but during the implementation, some personnel were left behind without receiving the (ASC 11) salary for the period of twenty-six (26 ) months as other colleagues that were advanced on level eight at the same notional day,” the petition reads.
The affected NSCDC personnel across the country, whose leaders’ identities are being withheld for fear of victimisation, also lamented that after being promoted to level 8 in 2016, none of them has received further promotion while their colleagues with National Certificate of Education (NCE) have been promoted twice, keeping the NCE holders in level 10, two levels above their HND colleagues.
“However, since 2016 that 2012 HND intake got advancement to level eight, they have not been promoted till date and NCE holders of 2012 intake have been writing promotion exams to the extent they are ahead of HND 2012 Personnel with two levels, that is level 10 rank of DSC,” the petition added.
The affected NSCDC staff therefore urged the Minister of Interior to hear their plea to enable them work at their optimal.
“So, we implore you to use your good office to hear our yearnings, in order for us to have morale to take out our mandate,” the affected personnel pleaded.
