…Says I won’t challenge your victory in court to allow you reign
One of the co- contents to the Olowu of Owu throne, Archbishop Adegbemi Adewale has shelved the decision to protest the selection process in court contrary to expectation.
As a result, he has sent a congratulatory message to the Olowu Elect,Oba Saka Matemilola on the commencement of his Ipebi- rites sequel to his coronation.
In a congratulatory letter he addressed to the Oba , he said that even though he emerged as the best among those screened by the kingmakers but was not approved in the final selection process,he has decided to allow the matter to rest even though he could contest it in court.
This he said, is to allow the new Oba to have uninhibited reign over the Owu kingdom.
Full congratulatory letter below:
The Olowu Elect,
Oba Dr. Saka Adelola Matemilola FNSE
Owu Palace, Ago-Owu, Abeokuta.
Dear Olowu Elect,
CONGRATULATORY MESSAGE.
I am constrained to write you this letter of congratulations on your selection as the 14th Olowu of Owu Kingdom, (now in (Ipebi) seclusion) due to the fact that I was a co-contestant who had no inhibitions to the throne.
You will recall that the process that led to the choice of the 14th Olowu began with the selection by Otileta Ruling House on 9th March, 2022 wherein I emerged as the overall winner amongst the (12) Princes that aspired and were screened for the throne, as my great-grandfather Oba Aderionye (Otileta V) was the Olowu of Owu Kingdom here in Abeokuta from 1873-1890.
The last of the process and Governor’s approval which eventually produced you as the 14th Olowu elect have much to be contested by me in the court of law, but for the fact that the holy writ says ‘we brought nothing into this world and we shall take nothing out of it’, I have shelved such an idea to allow you have undisturbed reign over our land.
Moreover, our forebears never contested selection of Olowu in any formal or informal courts as the square pegs were throng into square holes, I therefore stand on our forefathers position not to contest your selection now or in the nearest future.
I wish you many years of peaceful reign on the throne of my forefathers, as I stand on the wise counsel of my father, H.E. Chief Olusegun Aremu Obasanjo, the Balogun of Owu Kingdom, on whose instructions I write to congratulate you on your selection as the 14th Olowu of Owu.
Congratulations, Igba yin a tu ilu Owu lara o. Amin
Yours sincerely,
E-Signed
Archbishop Prince Adegbemi A. Adewale Esq.
