A strategist and stalwart of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) in Enugu State, Ike Onuh has called on members of his party and the entire people of Enugu State to rally round Chief Chijioke Edeoga, a frontline governorship aspirant on the platform of PDP in the Coal City State.
Onuh who is also a real estate practitioner and patron of arts, made the call recently at an art exhibition in Lagos, South West Nigeria.
The art lover who spoke during one of the interactive exhibition sessions, described Edeoga as an extremely skilled and accomplished gentleman whose multidisciplinary training and exposure will go a long way toward consolidating the democratic gains of the current and previous administrations.
The PDP bigwig who told newsmen that the aspirant has all it takes to redefine governance and inspire a new generation of leaders, called on the people of Enugu State, irrespective of senatorial zone or political affiliation, to close ranks and deliver this aspirant who has promised to secure the future.
According to Onuh, Edeoga represents efficiency, equity, honesty, inclusion, transparency, rule of law, responsiveness and accountability.

“For as long as it is possible and necessary, I will continue to extol these virtues because all of us as stakeholders, are desirous of creating a better society that works for everyone. Like most people, I believe that Edeoga, from his background and antecedent, carries the torch of our collective belief for a better and greater state. And his promise to improve education and social infrastructure, his resolve to develop the youth by encouraging and identifying budding talents both in sports and entertainment, his welfare programme to empower the old and vulnerable people, his decision to create ICT enabling business environment, encourage agriculture, support tourism and more, remain a rallying point for us his supporters and the general public.
“All over the world, the norm now is enlightened leadership because it is built on knowledge, ability and a solid foundation. And as we all know; an enlightened leader leads selflessly and by example. He also leads from the front. As an enlightened leader, Edeoga is a person of strong character and bearing. Apart from being a role model to many young people, he also possesses the necessary emotional intelligence that can drive any 21st century government anywhere in the world.
“So, when we speak about a new Enugu State of endless possibilities, we have in mind, thinkers, drivers and technocrats like this aspirant who has the wherewithal to improve on all the laudable achievements of the current administration. I am happy that democratic consolidation is now a sing song in Enugu State in particular and Nigeria in general. It is therefore the duty of every democrat to support people and ideals that promote participation and good governance.
“Let me state that I am very happy with the way our people are handling all the touchy issues around power rotation, fairness and equity in this governorship contest. We are one people and the only way to avoid bad blood among all the contending forces is to play by the rules. Playing by the rules means respecting agreements even though they are mere informal arrangements. But we must move further by bringing from among us, our best hands. That is why we must put Edeoga to work because of the value he brings at the moment and even in the years to come”, he said.
For now, the odds are in Edeoga’s favour for obvious reasons. If he continues his wide consultation and consensus-building ahead of the primaries which is robust, then there is hope that the very best of candidates will emerge at the end of the day.
