At the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, home side, Dakkada trumped Kwara United 2-0, a result that seemed to have left Coach Usman Biffo stunned.
For Dakkada, it was a morale boosting win that brightened their chances of getting off relegation zone.
At the end of the clash, Biffo could only mutter that he never expected the result.
“It’s the game of football. You win some, you lose some and draw some. It’s just the manner we lost that is just the painful thing. We lost to Dakkada, not expected, but sometimes it’s like that.”
I don’t know what happened to us in the first half. We didn’t go out to play but we played better in the second half. If we played in the second half the way we played on the first half, I believe we would have left here with something reasonable,” Biffo said.
Emmanuel Ayaosi’s composed finish off Edidiong Ezekiel’s deflected cross and Etido Dan’s stoppage time winner ensured the home side pocketed all three points.
Kwara had the game’s first chance in the seventh minute but Alao Danbani’s curled effort went wide; and almost immediately, Dele Aiyenugba saved Ogundare Arise’s cross from getting to the approaching Dakkada front men.
Dakkada then broke the deadlock in the 33rd minute through Emmanuel Ayaosi whose finish left Dele Aiyenugba helpless as the hosts went into the break with a 1-0 lead.
Chances increased for both sides in the second period with Dakkada having the best chance in the 65th minute when Ayaosi put Ezekiel through one-on-one with Dele Aiyenugba who didn’t let him score.
Substitute Etido then put the icing on the cake in stoppage time with a right-footed shot to send the game beyond Kwara and hand Dakkada FC a 2-0 win.
Dakkada FC Coach, Dalamini said the game was quite challenging and heaped praises on the players.
“The game has been well played and highly technical and I think both teams played well, but we did better. We had our chances and we took them”, remarked Danlami
The win lifts Dakkada from 18th to 15th with 24 points while Kwara United maintain their fifth position with 34 points.
